Irish Soda Bread

There’s something new in the bread section:  Irish soda bread.  My ancestry is from Scotland but I’m willing to concede that some good things have come out of the Emerald Isle, and soda bread is one of them.  I love making this bread when I decide at 5pm that I want fresh bread at dinner.  There are lots of varieties but this one has the best texture and taste, in my opinion.  It can also be one of the prettiest, with its flaky crust and snowy dusting of flour split by a perfect cross.  Don’t expect it to last long, as you’ll find it perfect for any meal.  And for second breakfast and elevensies.  And afternoon tea, dinner, supper…
